  • QuantumColo™ Pre-Sales FAQ
  • If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to give us a call at 617-848-7278.

  • Q. Where is the QuantumColo&trade data center located?
  • Our facility is located at One Summer Street in downtown Boston, MA. It is the largest datacenter in New England with highest power density and is home to over 40 domestic and international carriers. You can read more about it by clicking here.

  • Q. What is the general lead time after the order is made?
  • For colocation accounts, orders are fulfilled and delivered generally in 5 business days. In most cases, we will assign rackspace, power and network provisioning details to you by the next business day.

For virtual private server accounts, orders are fulfilled typically by the next business day.

However, depending on availability and complexity of your add-on orders, there may be some delays from time to time. You'll hear from us within 1 business day after your order to verify your purchase and to start the provisioning process for your account.

  • Q. How about physical access? Can I visit your facility anytime to work on my servers?
  • For colocation customers, yes you can visit the facility anytime you prefer, 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. However a minimum of 1 hour notice is required so that a representative can be made available to escort you. There is no charge for you to access the facility -- escorted physical access is included as part of your service.

Also please check our information bulletin regarding data center visits here.

  • Q. For Internet bandwidth, do I get charged twice for both incoming and outgoing traffic?
  • No, you only get charged for higher of the two. For example, if you are doing 4Mbps of inbound traffic in 95th percentile for a particular month, while doing 1.5Mbps of outbound traffic, you will only get billed for 4Mbps, because it is higher of the two. You do not get billed for 5.5Mbps (sum of the two) as some of our competitors do.

  • Q. Do I need to bring in mounting rails for my server? If so what type of rail-kit do I need?
  • Yes, a rail-kit is required, unless the equipment you are colocating is specifically engineered for being mounted without a rail-kit (i.e. a network switch or small appliance would be light enough that rail-kit is not required). The rail-kit must be configured for 19 inches wide four-post cabinet installation.

If your server/hardware vendor gives you an option to purchase a rail-kit, then we are 99.9% sure that you will be required to use a rail-kit for safe installation in our racks. Hardware installation without a rail-kit cannot be performed unless it is approved by one of our engineers for being compliant to our safety protocols and seismic bracing requirements.

We will NOT allow a customer equipment to be placed on top of another customer's equipment in a shared colocation environment. This is one of the key reasons behind our stringent requirement for a rail-kit.

Customers who cannot deploy a rail-kit when required will be charged an extra one-time fee of $200 for each server not having a rail-kit -- TowardEX will then supply a universal rail-kit for customer to use to mount their hardware. In addition, use of mounting shelf may further delay the installation timeframe.

  • Q. Can I bring my own power strip or surge suppressor?
  • No. In order to ensure clean and safe wiring of all electrical connections within small confines of the cabinet rack enclosure, we require all customers to wire their power connections to the installed main cabinet power strip. Each rack unit you purchase also comes with one power port. If you need more than one power port per each rack unit, you can order more during your purchase.

The power service supplied by TowardEX is wired to both standby generator and UPS with surge suppression, so it is already preconditioned for use with electronic equipments. Therefore, surge suppressors are not necessary.

  • Q. Can I host adult content?
  • Per terms and conditions of our Acceptable Use Policy, adult content traffic is not permitted.
